Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Who Repairs You When you Fall?

Many of you have probably noticed the circular mirrors strategically erected, for the benefit of drivers and pedestrians, on village roads, often at "blind" corners, in Sai Kung and many parts of the New Territories.

On Ho Chung Road for example there were eight such mirrors (apparently standard issue) erected on steel poles or lampposts over a 2 km stretch of road.

In recent months three of these mirrors have been broken and only the posts and brackets remain. These were on single lane sections and indications are that large vehicles "whacked" them.

Enquiries regarding replacement have determined that the Highways Dept. and Transport Dept. are not responsible whilst the Water Services Dept. appears reluctant to comment.

Can anyone throw light on who is responsible for the mirror erection and maintenance?
