DIALOGUE WORKS!
Stream restored after CLP notified
The dismantling of the pipeline along this section of the Sha Kok Mei south stream (about 100 metres from the Highways Sept. project – see page X) was done quickly and efficiently once China Light and Power (CLP) was notified by the Sai Kung Association. But clearly, it didn't have to happen this way.
Dialogue with companies, government departments and/or developers before the work is done would surely lead to improvements in design, providing more sensible and workable solutions that could reduce the environmental impact.
This part of the Sha Kok Mei stream was brought back to close to its natural state in 2005. Its environmental destruction occurred in the previous year when a developer started site preparation and shotcreted the banks of the stream.

In February 2006, CLP installed an electrical pipeline along the stream as part of the development project.

CLP removed the electrical pipeline in March 2006, bringing the stream again back to its normal state.
