Man Yee Playground Phase II

(updated 17 Oct 06)

While new playground equipment appears to be cropping up beside of the podium in the square, we’ve been informed that a consultation was held in Chinese on the next phase of the “Visual Corridor” project.  This, we presume, entails the basketball court, the treed area that has become a refuge for the gambling grannies and the parking lot in front of the Temple

Explore “strongly recommended” to the District Officer that a consultation be conducted for those interested non-Chinese-speaking residents before Phase II is started.

Mr. Peter Chan has now asked for Explore’s help in gathering names (and contact details) of those interested in attending an English-language consultation on the second phase of the Man Yee Playground transformation.

The consultation will take place very soon – the week of 23 October, if possible – and, therefore, the deadline to send an email to Explore is Friday 20 October.  We will then send all emails on to the District Office and they will inform you of the date, time and place of the consultation.

The architect, Raymond  Fung, will first explain the design plans for Phase II and then answer questions and listen to comments from those in attendance.  Please be aware that there is no budget at this time to make changes to Phase I (which includes the contentious children’s playground) – this consultation is only to review and discuss Phase II which includes the basketball court, the sitting out area in front of Standard Chartered Bank to which the gambling grannies have retreated and the plaza and parking lot in front of the temple.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED: click here to send an email by Fri 20 October.  Please give us your full name and mobile phone number.
