Man Yee Playground Update
That children’s play area within Man Yee Playground is continuing to come under fire - residents with children are complaining about the less than imaginative (and physically undemanding) equipment, line ups for the swings (two rather than the previous four), the beating heat of the sun that makes some of the equipment unusable on sunny, hot days and the splinters from sitting on the wooden seats around its perimeter.
One resident, New Zealander Virginia Newhouse, has offered to donate a large “shade sail” to the cause – one won’t be enough for the whole area but at least it might shade a few children from the blistering summer sun.
The wooden benches have obviously been sanded down since the first complaints were received by Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) but – it won’t be long before splinters begin to puncture children and their caregivers once again.
Since the original contract on this part of the Man Yee Playground is complete – the people to whom you should make your views heard are the LCSD and the District Officer.
