Sai Kung Swimming Pool Antics

Anthony Sweet bought a brand new waterproof case for his camera so that he could take a picture of his son underwater at Sai Kung Swimming Pool.

The lifeguard wouldn't allow it.

According to Mr. Sit Kwong-kit (Harris), the pool manager, they have received complaints from swimmers.  He says: "in accordance with the ...Public Swimming Pools Regulation 4 (c), 'no person within a swimming pool or the precincts thereof, shall do any act which is likely to endanger, obstruct, inconvenience or annoy any person'. As such, our staff once noticed that any person holding the
camera, he will verbally request the swimmers to stop taking photo in the pool complex."

On another pool-related issue – Mojdeh Kazemi was told she could not swim anywhere but the lap lanes at our pool early in the morning. Another day she noticed a woman who wanted to go up to the sun deck but she was not allowed to do so until she was escorted there by staff. However, Mr. Sit informs us that “swimmers are welcome to use all facilities provided in the pool complex.”

So if you are told that only a small part of the pool is open – quote Mr. Sit (and  Explore) and you should be allowed to go wherever you wish!
