Python Alert!

Pak Tam Chung

Local resident, Catherine Leonard, warns walkers (especially those with dogs and small children) to be on the alert for a territorial python near the south end of the Pak Tam Chung Family Walk.

She believes that the python from which she rescued one of her dogs during her walk Sunday 9 September is the same as that which killed a husky earlier this year.  "It lives in the water course on the trail to Tsam Chuk Wan" just off of the family walk.

Catherine, who had two other dogs with her at the time (one a puppy rescued in the vicinity), managed to extract her 20kg dog from the snake's grip by bashing the snake while pulling on the dog at the same time.

If walking in the area, we suggest that you keep all dogs on a leash and make sure that they, and small children, walk close to you.
