Enhancement Of Tourist Attractions & Planning

  • creation of a cluster of attractions in the Sai Kung town area/gateway (hub & spoke)
  • New Town Centre as a catalyst for the further development and modernization of Sai Kung Town (tourist friendly)
  • Creation of a Sai Kung district logo/tag-line
  • Creation of an icon (e.g. the world’s tallest Tin Hau statue for SK)
  • Development of islands (Yim Tin Tsai Kiu Tsui & others)

Tourist Infrastructure

  • Re-development of the Jockey Club public car park to its full potential with commercial and tourism uses
  • Development of the 2nd pier in the SK Town with a board walk linking to Yeung Chau Island
  • Provision of an amphitheatre/open-air performance area
  • Accommodation
    • Up-scale boutique hotel/resort/spa (small volume, high yield)
    • B&Bs for backpackers
    • Develop site feasibility studies
  • Organize and control “kaito” service

Environmental Preservation & Conservation

  • Development of Yeung Chau Island with nature walking trails and connection to and incorporation of the promenade
  • Featuring Sai Kung’s origins & heritage in general
  • WWF’s SOS proposal for “no-take” zone in Inner Port Shelter: support in principal (encourage recreational fishing)
  • Housing beautification (linking temple to pier) streetscape enhancement

  • Tourism ambassador program for SK residents/community/schools: e.g. walking tours, information centre support
  • Featuring of SK-based businesses e.g. Four Seas Mercantile Holdings Ltd. (snacks)
