Tunnel to TKO & Bridge to CWB

For those of you who live in Clear Water Bay, you will have a quicker drive home from Kowloon…in 2016. Plans for a new tunnel and cross bay link, connecting Tseung Kwan O to Lam Tin are now being fine-tuned by CEDD after presentation to the SKDC and other relevant parties. The layout of the road links and noise abatement measures in specific areas were discussed but in general, the SKDC was supportive of the project. Traffic through the present tunnel is expected to be seriously congested by 2016 due to the increase in the working population of TKO.

The tunnel will go from the Lam Tin – Yau Tong area in East Kowloon to Tiu Keng Leng, and will link up with the Eastern Harbour Tunnel on the Kowloon side and to a bridge across Junk Bay to Area 86 where the Dream City residential project and the MTR's TKO South station are taking shape. Construction on the tunnel and bridge link should start at the end of 2011.
