Feral or pet...there's a good deal of print devoted to their existence these days.
We've heard that one person actually dropped $4,000 on doggie apparel at "Dog's World", while another is trying to sue his former neighbours for $20Million because he's suffering from post traumatic stress (PTS) since their dog attacked and killed his own back in 1998.
One Clearwater Bay correspondent to the SCMP voiced a complaint that I'm sure we've all had from time to time - about incessantly barking village dogs. However. many of us may also have the quandary of how (and whether to) silence our own pet who believes that we should be alerted to people walking in front of our houses. Did we not get them (at least in part) to make our property more secure?
Print and dinner conversations also show a growing concern regarding the number of feral dogs in our midst. According to a 2001 study , 20,000 feral/stray dogs are catured and put down each year in HK and, depite these efforts, the population is not decreasing. How frustrating it is to watch the dog population multiply exponentially when it seems like such a relatively simple (and much more humane) concept to catch and sterilize them before they have a chance to breed.
How do you feel about the dogs in Sai Kung?? Have your say.
