A 1,200 square metre site at Chong Hing Water Sports Centre, West Sea Cofferdam, High Island Reservoir was chosen as the home of Hong Kong's newest and most ambitious interactive science exhibit.
Opened 30 January 2010, this $3 million investment in public awareness and education is divided into three zones:
 - Educational zone
- Naked-eye observation area
- Telescopic Observation Area
The educational zone includes replicas of ancient Chinese astronomical instruments and a shadow sundial with which visitors can tell the time using their own shadows projected on the ground. Â Specially designed benches allow visitors to recline comfortably while looking at the night sky in the Naked-eye Observation Area. Â Four sets of binoculars, specifically designed for viewing any direction in the sky are available for visitors to view the stars in the Telescopic Observation Area. Â There are also telescope piers enable visitors with their own telescopes to use them without lugging heavy tripods out to the site.
Admission is free and the park is open 24 hours a day all year round. Â Various stargazing activities and guided tours will be available - check the Explore calendar for scheduled times as well as the Astropark website.
To access the park - take public transportation to Pak Tam Chung and then a taxi from there or hire a kaito from Sai Kung Pier.
