Friends of SK - June 2010 Report

E-mail Print PDF
FSK_logo_300Chairman, Guy Shirra, reports that the Committee and the Executive Committee have each met once since the 19 April 2010 AGM.

The following are the major objectives for the year ahead:

  • ♦ to stop the dualling of Hiram’s Highway. The Highways Department has invited FSK to a meeting on 29 June to discuss its formal objection to Stage 1 which, if it stands, will go before Exco. (Nothing more has been heard about Stage 2 since the HyD project director retired last year.)
  • ♦ to introduce a closer monitoring system to alert the authorities to unauthorised works and despoliation of the countryside. FSK now has a group of volunteer Area Observers to assist the Operations Officer and have circulated a report proforma to facilitate easy and early reporting.
  • ♦ to encourage the early implementation of cycle tracks in and to Sai Kung Town. The CEDD Ma On Shan extension will not now commence construction until at least 2012. There are as yet no HKG plans for a track from Ho Chung, around town or for bicycle parking racks anywhere.
  • ♦ to stimulate FSK membership, especially non-expatriate.
